How to excell in Mathematics

Mathematics is generally considered as a difficult subject and most of the students are afraid of it. Even the good ones find it difficult and either try to avoid it or do it with a great difficulty. Even then most of them have to study it as it is a key subject for good career. Here is the right technique to study mathematics and do well in it without any difficulty.
The whole study of Mathematics can be divided into three major parts. (a) Concepts (b) Methods (c) Practice. And all the three parts have different methods to study. Most of the students try to follow one of these methods and end up in difficulty and failure. Remember that Concepts are to be build, Methods are to be learnt and practice is to be done.
Concepts should be made by reading the definition, understanding them and then if possible making a picture of them. Our mind understands pictures better than the words. Concepts are meant to be learnt by heart. Concepts are only a small part of the whole mathematics but they hold the key position in mathematics. As they are key to the whole mathematics they are worth learning.
Methods are steps to solve the problems. A step by step procedure to solve any type of problem is called the method. Once you understand the concepts you can analyse the problem and apply these concepts to develop a method to solve the problem. Initially you can take the methods from teacher or book and learn them by heart. But always try to relate it with the relevant concepts. It will give you insight and better understanding of the concepts as well as of the method.
Practice is the biggest part of the study of mathematics. But it becomes easier and enjoyable when done with the help of and methods. Once you understand and remember the method to solve any problem, you can solve any number of problems of the same type. But as it is said that practice makes man perfect, practice holds important role in study of mathematics. Repeated solving of problems gives us speed and accuracy in following the known method.
In short we can say that mathematics can be mastered in three simple steps
1.       Understand the concepts.
2.       Learn the method
3.       Do repeated practice.
